Child care accessibility, affordability, and quality have emerged as pressing priorities for Nashville, Tennessee, and the nation. This is due to the cumulative efforts of policymakers, advocates, child care providers, early education researchers, and community leaders. Over the past several years in Tennessee, various state agencies, organizations, and task forces have studied and recommended specific policy strategies to support the state’s ability to tackle the child care crisis.

The purpose of this paper is to present a synthesis of these policy recommendations, which can inform efforts to expand high-quality child care options for families in Nashville/Davidson County.
